DISclaimer - i am not affiliated with the club in any way
Friday 6th may marked the 100th birthday of york city football club. SO i knew i had to go big for this one-time occasion.
Despite not being affiliated with the club in any way, my aim was to bring the fans closer to thE club and create a connection.
I wanted the centenary celebrations to be one of the most memorable and historic moments for york city.
first of all, my instinct was to create an attractive video, that included the club's historic moments in their 99-year existence. I feel i completed that, receiving over 200 link clicks, 26 likes, 300 views and much more engagements than usual, just in the first 24 hours.
You can view the video here:
The next appropriate thing to do was create a graphic welcoming the occasion, so this is what I came up with:

The next thing on the list, is something that probably impressed city supporters the most, something that I had prepared months back, due to anticipated gcse exams around the 100 year celebrations.
It was the perfect idea for the 100th birthday of york city football club! A list of every single player to have appeared for the club. It wasn't easy for sure, but I got there in the end, and it was sure worth it.
the tweet gained the highest number of impressions out of all of the centenary posts, collating over 7,500 total impressions in the first 24 hours along with over 110 likes, 14 retweets and 700 engagements.
Here is the 'city wall of players' that i created:

As the date was getting closer, i needed a couple more graphics to delve back into the history of york city, actually, right back to the very start.
6 september 1922. the first ever match. notts county reserves vs york city.
Unfortunately for the Minstermen, their maiden game ended in a 4-2 defeat, however there was a moment to remember. Bill Smith scored direct from a free-kick, scoring City's first ever goal.
This is what inspired my next graphic, including some fancy word art.
Here is my 'first ever goal' graphic:

My final pre-scheduled post was one relating to the previous graphic. Carrying on from the first goalscorer, it was only appropriate to display some other big goal landmarks.
SO many different players have scored for york city, so i put together a graphic containing the first scorer, 100th scorer, 200th scorer, and so on....
Here's the goalscorer landmarks graphic:

For the special occasion, I also temporarily changed my twitter 'branding', switching my profile picture and banner to celebrate 100 years of the minstermen.
I didn't want to create a badge or go too complex with the profile picture so came up with this simplistic design:

The banner was already half completed, with me having a header reading 'YCFC - 100 YEARs' since the start of the year. This graphic has always been in red, with an image from the most recent win displayed in the bottom corner.
For the centenary version of the banner, all i had to do to match it with the rest of the 'branding' was change the colour to a traditional maroon, the club's heritage burgundy colour.
HEre is the regular banner, and the one-time centenary banner:

I would like to thank every single person who has interacted with any of my tweets throughout the centenary project, and to everyone who has supported me.
